2015 Holiday Events and Winter 2016 Activities in Manhattan

We know it’s been awhile since our last blog entry, so we thought what better way to ring in the giving season with a brand new post! While
temperatures are dropping, there’s no shortage of exciting events just in time
for the holiday season. If you’re visiting NYC for the first time or a regular,
don’t miss these events!

Holiday Markets

Time Out New York says:
“This European-style winter market boasts more
than 150 local and national vendors hawking an impressive selection of
handcrafted gifts, ranging from jewelry and accessories to leather goods and
artwork.” East 14th Street and
University Pl.
Weekday
hours are 11am-8pm, Saturdays from 10am-8pm, and Sundays from 11am-7pm.

Time Out New York says:
“Not only is there free ice-skating on Bryant
Park’s 17,000-square-foot outdoor rink (bring your own skates!), but also 128
holiday shops, including a bunch of new kiosks and eateries such as Marty V’s
Burger and Super Mac + Cheez. And after you shop and skate, warm up at spacious
rinkside restaurant Celsius. FYI: The vendors are only there until Jan 3, but
If you want to practice your lutzes and axels with ample spinning room, try
visiting during off-peak hours (open through March 6).” Sixth Ave between 40th and 42nd. Sun–Thu 8am–10pm; Fri–Sat 8am–midnight.

Ice skating

Only 150 people are allowed on the ice at once. Unfortunately, that also
means that you should prepare for long lines. 30 Rockefeller Plaza between 49th and 50th Sts. Through April. Mon–Sun 8:30am–midnight. $25-$32, seniors and children under 11 $15;
skate rental $12

Braving the crowds is worth it for the priceless Central Park scenery. Enter at W 59th St and Sixth Ave. Open Oct–March. Mon, Tue 10am–2:30pm;
Wed, Thu 10am–10pm; Fri, Sat 10am–11pm; Sun 10am–9pm.
